Herschel Supply’s Watt Sunday Bag, as I wrote about before, is shockingly well-constructed and incredibly light. As a walking golfer who prefers a minimalist setup, they kind of nailed it. With a stylish, modern aesthetic and enough storage for my essentials, I’m really loving their new line for golf.

OGIO Featherlite Travel Cover. My current carry is the OGIO Featherlite, and it has a performance travel cover that manages to be both heavy-duty and surprisingly light. It’s a little different than other travel bags for golf clubs, with this unique “reinforced wall” you velcro into the top instead of a stability rod, but I really like how it sits upright and how much room it has for being more compact than my Ghost Golf AWOL.

Payntr Golf Shoes are engineered for comfort and stability with no break-in or fuss needed. They aren’t casual though, these are golf shoes not sneakers, so they’re for a golfer who walks a lot and doesn’t want to think about their footwear at all (the set-it-and-forget-it of golf shoes). I love all the varieties I have tried, from 001 to the 005, and especially the Moving Days; they combine a technical, performance-driven design and are just handsome and somewhere between classic and modern.

Boast Tennis, but also for Golf. And to clarify, it’s a Japanese Maple Leaf logo, but it definitely looks like that other one and I can’t wait to turn heads with it when I eventually take my wife up on learning tennis. The fresh irreverence, modern and retro, that Boast brings to classic country club style is really cool, and their technical material workout-ish gear is just as good for golf or weekends as the clay court. Start with a polo but don’t sleep on some of the more fashionable items.

Stitch Fix Personal Styling. Give Dad the gift of time by letting a professional stylist curate a “Fix” specifically for his body type and taste. It’s an effortless way for him to refresh his wardrobe with high-quality pieces. I’m in the middle of a trial and will report back soon.

HyperNatural Cooling Polo is a new brand to me, and they sent me a shirt to try out. Crafted from a unique plastic-free, cooling fabric, these shirts offer a sustainable and incredibly soft alternative to synthetic performance wear. So far they’re insanely comfortable, we’ll see this summer how they hold up to the humidity on the course.

Mizzen+Main Helmsman Pants are 5-pocket pants are already joining the rotation with my beloved G/FORE 5 pockets, and seem a little bit more structured overall for those who want stretch but fabric integrity too.

Proof 72-Hour Merino Polos from Huckberry is built to withstand humidity and multiple wears without losing its shape or freshness, and I’m going to test that this summer but it fits great so far and I love the feel. Proof makes some awesome stuff over at Huckberry, and they have a full Father’s Day shop of curated stuff I love.

Weatherman make THE best umbrellas and a top-tier one for golf (and hell, for commuting). A gift no one will buy themselves but changes everything. Seriously the best in the biz, and on Amazon!

Bandit Running. Another thing your man won’t buy himself but you should is quality workout gear. Founded in Brooklyn, Bandit is running-forward but I love their stuff for yoga, active days in the sun and the gym. A must-have few items for a cool dad no matter what his mile time is.

Brunch Slippers. I got sent a pair of these to try out and loved them, even on my giant feet (the 14’s fit me well!). They give me that hotel feeling even when I’m stuck at my desk.

Radmor Golf is awesome, their polos just don’t fit me as well as other brands. As a tall guy, it’s mostly in length, but I love their stuff, the design is for a discerning eye with subtlety and minimalism.

My feelings about Herschel Supply Co overall are that; positive but steady (I have a few of their backpacks too, which also look as-new over a decade in). So when they reached out to me about their first foray into golf, I knew I had to try it out.

A line of three bags — two carries and a sunday — look and feel like the Herschel you would expect; made of their signature dobby fabric and with that iconic leather diamond accent and white brand patch. But they’re also incredibly sturdy and well-made golf bags, most akin to a Titleist carry bag in my opinion.

The Watt Stand bag, and it’s lightweight sibling, are great carries, with proper pocket distribution legit zippers to hold a days-worth of gear or just a few balls and tees. Modern touches include an easy-access phone slot and insulated cooler pocket for cold ones. The handles and loops are strong and well-stitched to the bag, with a cart strap passthrough and custom towel ring with gear attachment loop, and in a really nice luxury tough, leather straps for the umbrella holder. The only real difference in the two is the lightweight is 3-way divider, and the full is a 5-way, with a little more weight. I’d go with the full one as the difference is negligible for only about $20 more.

The Sunday bag is retro-inspired and classic, ditching the stand legs and cross-straps for an upright-angled base and single strap. It’s minimalist but keeps most of the pocket and design touches of the other two, saving nearly two pounds of weight in the process. It’s a dream to hold and with the three-way divider will keep a full set or reduced-volume of your clubs from clanking around.

To round out the line, there’s a spacious and well-proportioned travel wheelie golf bag (in an exclusive rose color), a very familiar-looking but custom-built shoe bag, and some delightful headcovers with their signature branding. They’re part of the “Heritage™” line and would make great gifts.

As of writing they are selling out select colors but there are definitely plenty in-stock for you, running from about $30-$40 for the accessories to $280 for the bags, which is a great range for this quality and for something a little less “on the nose” on the course. Who knows, maybe they’ll last as long as my dopp kit has.

Out of Canada, Reigning Champ is a design-forward company making some of the most premium and slick workout gear in the game. Priced accordingly, this is high-end apparel for when you want to look and feel good while getting a sweat in. While I force myself to the gym every week, for me this really means one thing — how can this help me golf?

Well, their Solotex polos have been a mainstay in my golf shirt rotation for years. The unique mesh waffling and counterintuitive heavy fabric feel mean they hide and wick away sweat while keeping me cool (and UV protected) on the course in the hot summer sun. Their structure also means they don’t cling or get bogged down, making me look crisp and vibrant even if I’m losing water weight like a high school wrestler.

I was pleasantly surprised when the news hit my inbox that they were collabing with PUMA around a golf-specific capsule, called the "Power Fades as the Sun Fades" collection. It’s “built for athletes who are hungry and striving for the next level in their search for greatness – the embodiment of what you practice in the dark shines in the light.” I’m not the biggest PUMA golf fan; their colorways and styles are a little much, but they have been in the game for long enough that a partnership like this is a step in the right direction of hitting new audiences.

Alright, I get it, that’s cool. Ricky Fowler and JJ Spaun will be wearing it at this weekend’s Genesis Invitational and I am psyched to see them in it out there. I also dig this quote from Rickie:

“As a lifelong student of the game of golf, I know how deeply personal the early days of solo practices and late-night sessions were for my confidence and development as a golfer,” says Rickie Fowler, PUMA GOLF ambassador and six-time PGA Tour winner. “It means everything to me to see these two incredible brands pay homage to all the work that goes into achieving greatness in any sport, and I look forward to wearing the collection in competition this week.”

I’m excited to try out the lighter-weight MATTR polos, which have two designs: retro fading colors and classic Jacquard style. I also think the Crest hat is really killer, and the co-branded sweatshirt will be a must-have for the transitional weather this spring.

The Travel Bag

I have written about travel bags for Travel + Leisure, testing multiple brands and types for air, car and local travel. I personally like two the best: Ghost Golf AWOL Golf Travel Bag and the STITCH Multi Use Traveler Bag. This time, I’m taking the Ghost with me.

It fits a truly astonishing amount of stuff, especially for me with extra long clubs and size 15 shoes. I can fit a pair of spikes on the outside and line the gaps next to my clubs with jackets, towels, and non-golf shoes and not struggle with the zippers at all. And the padding is smartly placed without adding bulk.

The bag

My trusty Titleist Players 4 Carbon is still going strong (though I saw a TikTok of someone showing off the new hoofs/bases from the PGA Show which has me psyched). I’ll do a full WITB (Winter Edition) soon but for now, you can peek at some of the clubs too. If I was taking the STITCH MUT, I would swap to the STITCH bag too as it fits perfectly, but this is how I go 90% of the time.

The Shoes

I’m packing two pairs for this trip, just in case (and why not, when you have this much room in the AWOL). Like with bags, I’ve covered shoes extensively for Travel + Leisure, but I’m always testing new ones and have a little more freedom here. The first I’m packing are my favorite shoe of 2025, the G/FORE G.112s (which were the top pick on my T+L roundup until an edit not by me) and are so versatile and comfortable they work for any climate. The design is “a choice” for sure, but it pays off because the rest of the features are so great.

While I have the room, I stashed a pair of Adidas Samba spikeless I got sent last week as part of their latest Originals drop. How sick are these? Perfect for California golf.

The Accessories

You can see the Ghost Greenside golf towel on my bag above, and alongside that I’m also packing my new Cobalt Q-6SM Rangefinder, a Zero Restriction Stretch Traveler jacket (just in case) and plenty of tees, balls, rags and gloves.

One more thing I am throwing in the bag — something I got sent to test by their team and is a brand new to me — is the Mileseey GeneSonic Pro GPS Speaker. It’s the same size and shape as my BlueTees Player+ but from my reading and non-course testing two key differences: it doesn’t require any smartphone app connection to configure, and it has this detachable GPS separate from the speaker if you’re walking instead of riding. I love that flexibility (as a carrier) and am excited to test it out.

So that’s a pretty solid list. All fits nicely in the AWOL (as does the pants, shirts and hats for golf, plus three other pairs of shoes and a few bulky jackets for my week-long work trip this is tacked on to). Any questions? Tips for Buying Golf Pants

Know the different types of fits and lengths.

While a chino-style side pocket pair is most common, in our testing we found a five-pocket cut to be the most popular with newer brands. Just behind that and exploding in popularity on the course is joggers, so be sure to know what kind of fit you’re looking for. Gone are the days of pleated, billowy trousers, so also be mindful of how most performance golf pants have a slimmer, more tailored look and are meant to be activewear as much as business casual. Especially when ordering online, try out a few different length and waist combos, as we found a 36-inch waist was not consistently the same across brands, and even varied within the same brand if the inseam was 32 inches or 34 inches (most of our recommendations have great return policies just for this reason).

Determine what kind of fabric is right for you

Most performance shirts are made with a polyester, which is both light and breathable, while also usually being quick-drying and sweat-wicking. But depending on what it’s blended with will determine how it feels; adding spandex will make it stretchier, adding cotton makes it softer. Other fabrics dictate what the standout feature of the shirt will be: nylon tends to be best for sun protection, and pima cotton will be the most natural.

Coordinate your look

While golf shirts can provide the most opportunities for bold patterns and visual statements, your pants can and should compliment your overall on-the-course vibe.
